The fourth Dragon Ball anime series, Dragon Ball Super, aired from July 2015 to March 2018 with an all-new story since the series finale of Dragon Ball GT in 1997.
The story begins with the ensuing panic of the Majin Buu Saga, prompting Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of the Z Fighters to take action.
In Dragon Ball Super season 01, Champa, the God of Destruction of Universe 6 also made his first appearance and made the series more action-packed than ever before.

When Does Dragon Ball Super Season 2 Come Out?- Release Date!
Toei Animation is, without a doubt, hard at work on Dragon Ball Super Season 2, which has not been officially announced!
However, in an interview posted on the Dragon Ball website, Florence Jay Dominguito, a member of the team at Toei Animation Philippines, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super anime.
Even if that isn’t an outright confirmation, it certainly bodes well for season two.
On the other hand, Toei Animation has been mum about when we might expect to see Dragon Ball Super Season 2, except for the one major hint given by executive producer Akio Iyoku.
In Weekly Dragon Ball News, Akio Iyoku said that “The release date of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film in Japan has been set for April 22nd, and I am working extremely hard to have everything ready in time for the premiere”.
He added, “The movie was fantastic” and the series creator, Akira Toriyama, is “very happy.” We appreciate your patience while we complete this brand-new animation.”
At last, he concluded with the strongest hint yet- “There’s also a chance that something other than the movie will be coming this year too, so let’s make this year another fantastic year for Dragon Ball together!” (This is all from the Toei Animation).
Furthermore, the second movie in the Dragon Ball Super franchise (Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero) has recently opened to rave reviews; this serves as a reminder of just how committed the fan base is.
Therefore, the 2nd season might easily make a comeback in 2023 when the market for it is expected to be as strong as ever.
But for now, I would say that because additional episodes of the series have not been announced yet, there is no release date given by Toei Animation for Dragon Ball Super season 2.
Dragon Ball Super Season 2 – Expected Plot & Premise! (Spoiler Alert)
While the anime was being produced, a manga adaptation was also in the works, with 9 volumes divided across seven story arcs:

- Universe 6 Saga (Chapter 5 – Chapter 13)
- “Future” Trunks Saga (Chapter 14 – Chapter 26)

So if the manga order holds true, Dragon Ball Super Season 2 will kick off with the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga.
In this manga chapter, Goku and Vegeta face off against Moro- a great wizard who wants to devour planets to become much more powerful.
Following that, Granolah the Survivor Saga begins, in which the Saiyans will fight a bounty hunter bent on vengeance.
Assuming Dragon Ball Super Season 2 would consist of 60 episodes, then these 2 sagas, which cover the entirety of the manga up until the most recent chapters, will be covered in that time frame.
Moreover, we’ll see Goten and Trunks re-engage in their training alongside Gohan and Piccolo. And, from the looks of things, the second season is about to unleash a new corp of Z Fighters.

1. Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga – Arc Summary
The Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc, which ran from Chapter 42 to Chapter 67, and takes place after the episodes of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, is the fifth main story arc in the Dragon Ball Super series.
After their run-in with Freeza and Broli on Earth, Goku and Vegeta continue their training until one day the Galactic Patrol shows up to retrieve Majin Boo and knocks out both Goku and Vegeta in the process and kidnaps them as well.
Upon regaining consciousness, they find out that a most heinous criminal imprisoned for 10 million years had escaped Galactic Prison, and only Majin Boo could capture the planet-eater Moro and bring him back to justice to protect the universe from his wrath.
After knowing the reality, Goku immediately offers his services to the Galactic Patrol, earning him the title of “Special Member.” And it is soon discovered that Moro is on his way to New Planet Namek in a quest to collect the dragon balls.
As soon as they hear of the coming threat, Goku and Vegeta teleport immediately to planet Namek and a massive struggle ensues upon Moro’s arrival.
However, the two Saiyans soon learn that Moro is armed with tremendous magic that allows him to absorb the energy of those around him.
2. Granolah The Survivor Saga – Arc Summary
After the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc, Dragon Ball Super entered its 6th major story arc, titled the Granolah Survivor Arc (Chapters 67–87 of the manga).
The plot revolves around Granolah, the protagonist of the arc whose race was exterminated by the Saiyans on Frieza’s command a long time ago.
Even though he was fully aware that Frieza had been dead for a very long time and the Saiyans had been wiped out even before that, he devoted his entire life to becoming powerful enough to get revenge.
One day, the Heeters, the group that hires him as a mercenary, informs him that Frieza has been resurrected and that he has little chance of survival against the formidable villain.
So, to become the most powerful warrior in the universe, he collects all the Dragon Balls he can find. Now that his request has been granted, he demands the whereabouts of Frieza so he can exact his long-desired revenge.
